Shelby is our beloved Lead LVT at Avondale Animal Hospital.
She grew up in Gardendale AL, and went on to attend Troy University, initially aiming to become an Alabama Conservation Enforcement Officer. She graduated with an Associates of Science in General Education in 2019.
Halfway through her time at Troy University she began a 7 year tenure at Southern Animal Hospital in Troy where she fell in love with Veterinary Medicine largely in part to her wonderful mentor. She then decided to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician and went on to graduate from Jefferson State Community College with an Associates of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology in 2022.
Her interests in veterinary medicine include wound care, phlebotomy, critical care, and most importantly client education. However, she is always willing to learn and do new things outside of her comfort level!
When she isn’t working, Shelby enjoys archery, outdoor sportsmanship, and anything involving her dogs. Her goals for the future include gaining a specialty as an LVT and/ or returning to school to become a DVM.
